About the studio  |  スタジオについて

CUT by Yumi Endo is a New York City based design studio which intersects design + technology.

Our products feature unique geometric forms/graphics inspired by architectural details and urban patterns found in New York City and other cities Yumi has previously lived / visited.

Our designs are manufactured using both traditional and emerging fabrication methods. We are always keen to develop new production techniques to push our products forward.

About Yumi  |  プロフィール

Yumi Endo is a Japanese, New York-based designer with a passion for art, design and technology. She was born in Niigata, Japan, to a father who was a telecommunication engineer, and a mother who was a kindergarten principle.

She often wishes she could have met her great grandfather, who was a skillful woodworker/product designer.

Her interest in gadgets, technology and new media grew as a child as her father brought home early word processors and personal computers manufactured by his company.

She currently works full-time at frog design in NYC, where she focuses on creating meaningful digital experiences for many internationally acclaimed clients. > Visit her portfolio

After graduating from Parsons the New School for Design in 2009, Yumi needed an escape from spending too much time on computer - to design something more tangible. She launched a small jewelry collection which quickly found its way to be featured in designboom mart and on runways.

Yumi holds a Master of Fine Arts in Design + Technology from Parsons the New School for Design. Prior to coming to NYC, she has earned a Bachelor of Design with honors in Product/Interior/Graphic Design from University of New South Wales, Australia.
